Paddle Steamer Curlip II is a replica of a workhorse vessel of that plied Snowy River estuary from 1890 to 1919. Thirty tonnes of local bluegum and thousands of hours
work by master boat builders and determined volunteers have gone into recreating a piece of the Snowy Rivers' history, and its time for the community to celebrate its
achievement.
The festival kicks off with a Pioneer Ball on the Friday night, before Paddle Steamer Curlip comes down the river accompanied by a flotilla of wooden boats at Marlo on
the Saturday, before being open for inspection at the jetty in the afternoon. Stroll the foreshore amongst horse and wagon and old time bicycles, check out the art
exhibition, watch demonstrations of axe and adze work and black smithing and in the evening take in a live music performance and fireworks over the water.
On Sunday head back to Forest Park in Orbost, on the banks of the Snowy and find out the best of what East Gippsland has to offer at the market day. From beautiful
Forest Park you can take the river side walk , from the Slab Hut follow a heritage trail through town or visit the Rainforest Centre nearby. Orbost Exhibition Centre
next door is opening it "Talking Wall" project in the afternoon.
